Opening Day was a week ago, but Houston hasn’t had its chance to put fans in the stands at Minute Maid Park for an Astros game.
That changes Thursday night when the 5-1 Astros play their home opener against the Athletics.

On Thursday morning, Astros star Alex Bregman and Houston rapper and sports mega-fan Paul Wall released a two-minute video on social media to get fans hyped up for the big night.
“Houston. H-Town. Where the H stands for hustle. Clutch City. A city known for resilience,” Wall says at the beginning of the video. “Any time we get knocked down, we come back even stronger. Houston is a city where anyone can Be Someone. It takes hard work, dedication and sacrifice. But we’re a city that’s not afraid to put in work. We’re home to the slab car culture, the best barbecue and Tex-Mex, the dopest artists and the best sports fans in the world. We have been anxiously waiting for in-person live sports since the pandemic first hit. We have been yearning for this moment. The boys are back. Let’s get it.”
While the first minute of the video includes the adversity Houston has experienced in the past few years, from flooding, to the freeze to the pandemic, the final minute is nothing but Astros highlights – including Bregman hitting the Griddy last week in Oakland – played over Paul Wall’s hit “I’m Throwed.”
The video closes with Bregman’s signature.
