See which prospects were hot over the last week.
Check out a quick look at a hitter and pitcher who performed at the top of the Astros system in the last week of baseball.
HITTER:
Brice Matthews – After a slow start to the season, Matthews has been really hot feasting in the PCL. This week in six games, Matthews hit .429 with a double, 2 triples, 3 home runs and 9 runs batted in. He also stole 2 bases. He has a .879 OPS with 19 stolen bases this season. His numbers are pretty split heavy on home vs road, but things appear to be going in the right direction for Matthews.
PITCHER:
Andrew Taylor – Taylor, the Astros second round pick back in 2022, faced some injuries last year and then dealt with some early this year. Now that he is healthy, he is showing why he was a top pick. In his one outing this week, he tossed 5 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts. Overall he has a 1.96 ERA in 18.1 innings for Asheville. Read more here.
