See which prospects were hot over the last week.
Check out a quick look at a hitter and pitcher who performed at the top of the Astros system in the last week of baseball.
HITTER:
Kenni Gomez – Gomez, who was signed by the Astros out of Cuba for $775,000 in 2022, got off to a slow start this year dealing with some injuries but since returning to the lineup, he has really gotten it going. This last week, Gomez hit .563 with 3 doubles, a home run, 6 runs batted in and 3 stolen bases. He’s hitting .404 over his last 13 games and is hitting .324 in May. He just turned 20 only 13 days ago.
PITCHER:
Trey Dombroski – Dombroski, originally a 4th round pick back in 2022, has quietly put up some good numbers this season and this week had one of his better outings as he tossed 5.2 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts. The left-hander has a 3.27 ERA with 33 strikeouts in 33 innings this season in Double-A for the Hooks. This is a nice development for him after some struggles in Double-A last season.
