Joins the other 15 Astros there
The Houston Astros announced this morning that they have placed All-Star third baseman Isaac Paredes on the 10-day IL with a left hamstring strain. This comes after he left the game the day before when he hit a ball off the wall in the outfield and struggled while running to first. He becomes the 16th Astros currently on the IL.
Astros have placed IF Isaac Paredes on the 10-day IL due to a right hamstring strain and optioned C César Salazar to Triple-A Sugar Land.
IF Shay Whitcomb recalled and Jon Singleton (#35) selected from Triple-A Sugar Land. IF Brendan Rodgers to the 60-day IL.

To go along with the move, the team also optioned C César Salazar to Triple-A as well as places Brenden Rodgers on the 60-day IL. They are recalling IF Shay Whitcomb and Jon Singleton from Triple-A.
Paredes joins the likes of Yordan Alverez, Jeremy Peña, Jake Meyers and Rodgers as guys who were a part of the Astros Opening Day roster who are now on the IL.
So far this season, Paredes has been one of the leaders for the Astros both defensively and offensively. Since being traded from Chicago, Paredes has hit .259 with 15 doubles, 50 RBIs and a team leading 19 home runs.
Since the loss of Peña, he has stepped into the role of the leadoff hitter and has performed nicely, hitting over .300 since late June.
With a roster that has been relying so much on young talent both in the field and on the mound, losing another star hurts the already struggling Astros. There is no telling when he will be back but the team can only hope it’s as fast as possible.
