Despite leaving 11 men on base, the Astros came away with the win
Against the worst team in the MLB, the Houston Astros have struggled offensively, but have managed to win despite that, taking their second-straight game against the Colorado Rockies, winning 5-3 on Wednesday.
Houston got things started right away after back-to-back base hits put runners on first and third and one-out for Cam Smith, who slapped an RBI-single into right, scoring Jake Meyers and putting the Astros up 1-0 right away.

This was followed up just an inning later when Shay Whitcomb, who is on the roster in place of Jeremy Peña, took a fastball 451 ft. to center field for his first big-league home run in just his 10th big-league at-bat.

The Rockies tied the game up after that, but the Astros took back their lead in the sixth, starting with a two-RBI single from Altuve. Cam Smith immediately followed this up with an RBI-single of his own, his hitting off the pitcher’s leg and him making it to first with no throw, putting Houston up 5-2.

They could have had more, but a ball off the bat of Christian Walker hit Altuve in the foot while running the bases for the third out of the inning.
As for pitching, Hunter Brown was not his usual effective self on the mound, but he was able to keep the runs from scoring for the most part.
Despite allowing seven baserunners, Brown allowed just the two runners to score, leading to the Rockies leaving five runners on base in six innings against Brown.

After Brown was finished, the Astros handed the ball over to Kaleb Ort, who gave the Astros a clean inning, and Bennett Sousa, who gave up a run thanks to three weak-contact base hits, but closed out the game for the 5-3 win.

hit, this one being a two-run bomb, tying the game at that point.
Altuve, who ended the game with two hits, moved into sole possession of second on the Astros all-time hits list, tying Jeff Bagwell with his first hit of the game and passing him with his second. Now only Craig Biggio sits in front of Altuve on the list.
A living legend.
Congratulations to Jose Altuve as he takes sole possession of second for most hits in franchise history. #BuiltForThis x @budweiserusa pic.twitter.com/29lj43AJSb

Brown’s final pitch of the third inning, a fastball thrown to pick up his fourth strikeout of the game, was the fastest pitch he has thrown in his career, registering at 99.8 MPH.
The Astros have one more game left to try and sweep the Rockies and that will start tomorrow at 2:10 P.M.
