New Pittsburgh Pirates manager Don Kelly is eager to try and help his hometown team. The Pittsburgh native was promoted from bench coach to manager when the last-place club parted ways with Derek Shelton. Kelly grew up 5 miles from PNC Park and spent nearly a decade in the majors as a utility player before going into coaching. Kelly says he’s humbled by the opportunity. The 45-year-old says he’s not sure what to expect the rest of the season and is focused on the team simply trying to get better day by day.
