Game 15 Thread. April 18, 2021, 3:10 CDT. Astros @ Mariners

MLB: Houston Astros at Seattle Mariners
Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Jake Odorizzi takes his second start as the Astros go for a series win in Seattle

On paper this should be a high scoring affair. Neither starting pitcher in this rubber match has been effective so far in this short season.

The Astros send late free agent acquisition Jake Odorizzi to the mound in only his second appearance this year. He got bombed in his first appearance, allowing five runs in only 3.1 IP

Seattle’s Nick Margevicius has appeared in three games this season and in 7.1 IP he has a 7.04 ERA.

Still, the bats, sans Altuve, Bregman and Alvarez, need to wake up. Last night’s game snapped a six game losing streak, but almost entirely on the strength of Zack Greinke’s eight inning shutout pitching. Nice comeback from his previous shelling against Detroit.

Kudos to rookie Taylor Jones from Seattle for the game winning RBI in the Astros 1-0 victory. During this period of COVID-absent superstars players like Taylor need to come through, and in two games without ABA, so far they have.

Here’s the lineup for today’s game.
