Ronel Blanco goes against a splendid Chris Bassitt
After a slow start last night, Astros bats busted loose, and it was the rookie that made the biggest impact. No, not THAT rookie, it was Zach Dezenzo with two doubles.
Hunter Brown is the pitching story of all MLB right now. He has 24 straight scoreless innings. Maybe he should have pitched tonight. Another guy on top of the pitching leaderboards, the Blue Jays’ Chris Bassitt, has a 0.77 ERA after 23.1 innings with 31 strikeouts.
At 36, he is starting 2025 having the best season of his career. But hopefully Yordan Alvarez can break out of his own slump and put Bassitt into a deep freeze. Here are Yordan’s career numbers against Bassitt.

Here are the lineups. Rumors to the contrary, Dezenzo will not be rewarded for his outstanding performance last night. Cam Smith takes his normal spot at #9 in right field, and he is, after all, the team’s second-best batter currently by OPS at .732. Personally, I’d like to see if Dezenzo can stay hot. Maybe Altuve at second and Dezenzo in left? Can Dezenzo play second?
