Greinke goes eight and cruises behind Tucker homer.
Zack Greinke quieted the loud Padres bats today going eight innings of one-run ball. Meanwhile the Astros offense behind a Kyle Tucker homer and Aledmys Diaz double provided enough cushion to protect the win from yet another bullpen meltdown in the ninth inning.
The Astros got an early start in the scoring with a Jose Altuve lead-off single followed by a Chas McCormick single. Altuve scored after a wild pitch and an Alex Bregman groundout. After a Carlos Correa walk Kyle Tucker struck the big blow with a three-run oppo homer into the Crawford Boxes.

The Astros would score three more in the third after Aledmys Diaz hit a two run double, and scored on a Taylor Jones single.

Meanwhile Astros pitcher Zack Greinke kept the Padres off-balance and off the bases, pitching eight innings, allowing only six hits and one walk, while recording only four strikeouts.
His only blemish was a fifth inning Webster Rivas solo homer.
Former Cy Young winner and Padres starter Blake Snell was off his game today, going only three innings, allowing five hits and three walks. It took him 81 pitches and only 43 of those were strikes.
But his relief, former member of the World Champion Astros, Joe Musgrove, followed Snell with five perfect innings.
Andre Scrubb’s troubles continued as he finished the game for the Astros allowing three runs on two homers. But with a runner on first he struck out Jorge Mateo to close out Greinke’s win.
The Astros take on another hot team for Memorial Day tomorrow, going against the Boston Red Sox.
