Jose Ramirez will not attend ASG
Houston Astros third baseman Isaac Paredes was added to the American League all star team. He is a replacement for Jose Ramirez, who has chosen not to take his all star position at 3b.
Paredes who was acquired from the Cubs in the Kyle Tucker trade, has been an Astros’ stalwart at 3b. Paredes has been among the best Astros’ position players, showing good defense at 3b with a strong arm throwing across the diamond, excellent plate discipline (leading the majors in pitches seen), and power which is tailor made for Daikin Park.
Paredes is hitting .255, .358, .471 (wRC+ 135). Paredes leads the Astros with 19 HR. He also leads the Astros in Isolated Power (ISO) at .216.
Paredes joins starting pitcher Hunter Brown, closer Josh Hader, and shortstop Jeremy Pena as the Astros’ representatives on the all star team.
