Cooper Hummel’s eighth inning homer the only run scored.
The Astros won yet another one-run game by scoring in their last at bat. Cooper Hummel’s eighth-inning homer was all the run support Astros pitching would need to improve their record to 13 games over .500.
Framber Valdez was the Ramblin Man for his seven innings on the mound. He worked around four hits, four walks, and two Astros errors to shut down the Phillies for the bullpen. Bullpen aces, Bryan Abreu and Josh Hader, finished the shutout, Hader getting his 20th save with no blown saves this year.
Valdez induced two double plays, and the Astros’ staff stranded nine Phillies, who were 0-7 with runners in scoring position.
This play by Isaac Paredes in the fourth inning may have been a game-saver.
Colton Gordon faces Zack Wheeler tomorrow, 7:10 CT, here in Houston.
