1964 – Houston loses on a no-hitter
Despite a no-hitter thrown from Houston’s Ken Johnson, the Colt .45s still lost 1-0 to the Cincinnati Reds. The one run came in the ninth off a booted ground ball, scoring Pete Rose, who reached on a two-base error.
1986 – Astros rally to win
Down 2-0 with no one on and two outs in the bottom of the ninth, the Houston Astros rally back to a 3-2 win over the Atlanta Braves. Craig Reynolds gets to deliver the final blow in the form of a walk-off two-run single to give Houston the win.

Luis Castro becomes the first and last player from Columbia to appear in an MLB game. It wouldn’t be till 1974 that the next Colombian player would make his way into the League.
1919
Anticipating poor sales at the gates in the upcoming season, MLB decided to shorten the season to 140-games, eliminating 14 games from the regular season. This would only last a year, as the league changed back to a 154 game schedule just the next year.
1950
For the first time in league history, a game between the Boston Braves and Philadelphia Phillies started during the day and finished under the lights.
1954
In his seventh MLB game, homerun king Hank Aaron of the Milwaukee Braves hits his first of 755 home runs in a 7-5 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.
1999
Fernando Tatis of the St. Louis Cardinals became the first, and still the only, player in baseball history to hit two grand-slams in the same inning. Both of these were part of a 12-5 win of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
2013
For the second time in MLB history, two brothers go back-to-back in a game. After a leadoff homer from Atlanta Braves’ B.J. Upton in the fifth inning of their game, his little brother Justin matched that immediately to help the Braves to a 10-2 win over the Colorado Rockies in the second game of their double-header.
2022
Detroit Tigers star Miguel Cabrera becomes just the 33rd player to reach the 3000 hit mark, coming in his first at-bat in a game against the Rockies.
