What happened today in team history?
1967 – Three for Wynn
Against the San Francisco Giants, Houston Astros outfielder cranks three solo-shots to help lead to a 6-2 win. This is a feat that wouldn’t be accomplished again at the Astrodome until 1994 and the first time in franchise history that someone has hit three homers in a game.
1976 – Rainout in the dome
Thanks to flooding in the Houston Area, the Astros are forced to cancel their game in the Astrodome against the Pittsburgh Pirates. This is the one and only rainout that occurred in the Astrodome, with the players being stuck in the locker rooms of the stadium.
2021 – Astros walk-off Rangers
Down to their last strike in the ninth inning, Houston’s Carlos Correa spanked a solo-shot to left to tie the game at two against the Texas Rangers and go to extras. After Texas took another lead in the 10th, up 3-2, Jose Altuve finished then off with a grand-slam, walking off the Rangers 6-2.
