1965 – Houston shocks the Cards
Tied up at two heading into the ninth, Houston Astros catcher Ron Brand shocked everyone by sending a three-run shot into the left field bleachers off Bob Gibson to hand the Astros the 5-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.
1983 – Scott’s first win
Helping Astros pitcher Mike Scott earn his first win with the team, Alan Ashby smacked two homers and a double to drive in six all together in the Astros domination of the Cincinnati Reds, winning 13-0.
1989 – Astros win the marathon
A 22-inning game between the Astros and Los Angeles Dodgers lasted seven hours and fourteen minutes and ended with a 5-4 win for Houston when Rafael Ramirez hit a game-winner that grazed the glove of Dodgers first baseman Fernando Valenzuela.
