1969 – Doug Rader walkoff
With the game tied at six heading into the 10th, Doug Rader delivers for the Houston Astros in the 10th inning, this time with a bases-loaded single to walk the Philadelphia Phillies off 7-6. This brings the team’s win-streak to 10, the longest in franchise history at the time.
2006 – Astros stun the Pirates
Heading into ninth down 4-0 and on the verge of losing their sixth-straight game, the Astros somehow managed to scrape their way back, winning 4-3 in the 10th inning over the Pittsburgh Pirates. They took full advantage of two bases-loaded walks in the ninth, before a walkoff single from Preston Wilson in the 10th took them home.
2023 – Homer fest for the record books
Two homers from Yordan, one from Altuve, who was coming back from a thumb injury, and Jose Abreu’s first Astros homer all helped the Astros to a 10-1 win over the Oakland A’s. Those were only five of the team’s seven homers on the night, breaking a franchise record.

1951
Stepping up to the plate, New York Giants rookie Willie Mays collected the first big league hit of his career, sending a ball over the wall against the Milwaukee Braves, breaking an 0-12 streak to start his career.
1957
In a unanimous vote from the National League, both the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants are granted permission to move their teams to the West Coast. Both teams would make the move next season.
1968
American League owners agree to divide the league into divisions, including East and West, and reduce the schedule of the season down to 156 games.
1998
Barry Bonds makes headlines as he is intentionally walked with the Giants down 8-6 to the Arizona Diamondbacks. It would work out though as the next batter lined out to give Arizona the 8-7 win.
