1962 – New stadium proposal
A new idea was brought to the Harris County Commissioners by Weldon Appelt to build a stadium using arches in order to help the building process, later proposing for a domed stadium. Meanwhile, the Colt .45s beat the Chicago Cubs 10-6 thanks to a five-run ninth inning from Houston.
1975 – Astros erupt for club record
The Houston Astros beat the Philadelphia Phillies 15-3 thanks to a club-record 12-runs in the eighth inning. Pinch-hitter Cliff Johnson took full advantage of his opportunity, belting a double and a home run in the inning.
2006 – Astros sign Clemens
The Astros and flamethrower Roger Clemens agreed to terms on a deal that would bring him back for the last four months of the 2006 season for just over $22 million. He ended up making 19 starts and posting a 2.30 ERA.
2011 – Jordan Lyles debut
After throwing seven clean innings against the Cubs in his debut on the mound, an error by the 20-year-old pitcher Jordan Lyles put himself in-line for the loss. That was before the team backed him up with a six-run ninth, leading to a 7-3 win.
