1966 – Lucky No. 13
In a win against the Chicago Cubs in 13 innings, the Houston Astros got their 13th win of the season. The winning run came when Jimmy Wynn singled in Joe Morgan, handing them the win. Starters on both sides, Dick Farrell and Bill Faul, both wore 13 on their backs but neither of them was given the win.
1991 – Bagwell hits a blast
Playing in Three Rivers Stadium, the old home of the Pittsburgh Pirates, a rookie Jeff Bagwell became just the ninth player to hit the upper-deck, smacking a mammoth 456-foot pitch-hit home run to help lead the Astros to a 6-4 win.
2004 – Clemens moves up the ladder
Astros flamethrower Roger Clemens, in a game against the Pirates, strikes out Raul Mondesi for his 4,137th career strikeout, passing Steve Carlton for second all-time and putting him just behind Nolan Ryan. A few years later, he would be moved back down to three when Randy Johnson moved ahead of him on the list.
2010 – Carlos Lee takes off
After starting the season homerless in the first 27 games, Astros first baseman Carlos Lee smacks a two-run blast to help lead the Astros to a 4-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. With the win, the Astros moved their season record up to 9-18, still worst in the National League.
