What happened today in team history?
1980 – Delays don’t matter
After waiting close to four hours for a rain delay in Olympic Stadium in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the Houston Astros beat the Montreal Expos 8-4. Jose Cruz is the hero of the game for the Astros, delivering four RBIs to lead the Astros to the win.
1984 – Gooden wasn’t good enough
Facing off against a 19-year-old Dwight Gooden, the Astros put up 10-runs, eight coming off Gooden, to lead to a 10-1 win over the New York Mets. Astros starter Nolan Ryan, over twice the age of Gooden, helps his team out on offense as well with a bunt single to drive in a run.
