1979 – New ownership
With the purchase of the team, the Houston Astros have their sixth new owner in their franchise’s history, being bought from Ford Motor Company by shipping giant Dr. John McMullen. Previously working alongside New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, he joked that there is no job more limited than working for him.
1992 – Bench Baggy
Coming off the bench in this one, Astros infielder Jeff Bagwell smacks two homers in a 6-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 10th. Bagwell delivers the final blow when he smacks his second home run of the day, a two-run shot, to give Houston the win.

In the eighth inning of a game against the Philadelphia Phillies, Atlanta Braves slugger Hank Aaron hit his first, and only, inside-the-park homerun, adding to his eventual 755 homers.
