A Look Ahead: The Huskers’ 2026 Recruiting Class

Huskers 2026 recruiting class

As it stands right now, Nebraska only has four commits in its 2026 recruiting class. Let’s break down who they are.

Jase Reynolds

After a strong performance in a camp last June, Reynolds notched an offer from Nebraska linebackers coach Rob Dvoracek. In early May, Reynolds was able to return the favor by announcing his commitment to Nebraska. The Elkhorn North product is eager to get started. According to Inside Nebraska, Reynolds stated that “wearing the red N was something that he always wanted.” Another factor for the three-star defender was his proximity to home. His closeness to family and friends allowed him to be comfortable with the players in the Cornhuskers’ linebacker room. However, he’s also a perfect fit for John Butler’s scheme. In his high school career with the Wolves, Reynolds has played outside linebacker, nickel, and safety. The junior linebacker sees this as one of his strengths because he can “stop the run, but also match routes if needed.” But if he wants to truly have a great career in Lincoln, he’ll have to become more athletic to defend against the different offenses in the Big Ten. Can he achieve this goal before he gets to Lincoln? Or will Nebraska’s strength program do all the work?

Dayton Raiola

The Raiola name lives on at Nebraska. Current Huskers quarterback Dylan Raiola headlined the Cornhuskers’ 2024 recruiting class as a five-star quarterback. His younger brother Dayton is following in his footsteps when it comes to the program’s 2026 recruiting class. He’ll also reunite with the coaching staff in Lincoln. At the time of his commitment, he felt that Matt Rhule, Glenn Thomas and his uncle Donovan Raiola influenced him to commit. But will the coaching staff help him get to backup status? This might be possible. TJ Lateef and Marcos Davila will still be adjusting to the college game. And although Trae Taylor just committed, the four-star quarterback headlines the Huskers’ 2027 recruiting class. His highlights aren’t bad either. In his junior season at Buford High School, Raiola passed for 1,953 yards and 19 touchdowns. He also managed to keep the football out of harm’s way with three interceptions.

CJ Brounagh

Will the Florida native stick with Nebraska? Since his commitment to the Cornhuskers, Brounagh has been elevated to a four-star cornerback in the program’s recruiting class. And with that distinction comes suitors. This has led the 195-pound cornerback to consider Florida State, Penn State, and the Florida Gators. In addition, he hasn’t gone into detail about his relationship with the Huskers’ current defensive backs coach Addison Williams. This might not matter. One of the main reasons that he committed was how the program operated. Brounagh said he was amazed by the culture and atmosphere he saw at Memorial Stadium. He was also excited on learning from Nebraska defensive coordinator John Butler. On his visit to Florida, Butler gave Brounagh tips to improve his game and his technique as a cornerback. We’ll see if that connection is enough. The coaching staff is working hard to keep Brounagh in the Huskers’ 2026 recruiting class.

Dveyoun Bonnell-Witte

The three-star wide receiver was the second pledge of the Huskers’ 2026 recruiting class. Nebraska’s win over Rutgers sealed the deal for Bonnell- Witte. Former wide receivers coach Garrett McGuire also played a huge role. Now that McGuire isn’t with the program, this may be a sign that Bonnell-Witte could flip, but it’s unlikely. Since McGuire left for Texas A&M, the Huskers hired Kentucky wide receivers coach Daikiel Shorts. At the time of his commitment, Bonnell-Witte was excited about McGuire’s energy and his coaching style. Shorts fits this description perfectly. And he’s a Dana Holgorsen disciple. These factors should motivate him to stay in Lincoln. The only worry is playing time. Since his arrival, Nebraska has brought in ex-Kentucky Wildcat Dane Key, Cal transfer Nyziah Hunter, and current freshman Cortez Mills.
