The Aggieland Favorite is doing what he does best

In case you missed it, Alex Caruso is playing in the NBA Finals for Oklahoma City right now. Of course, Aggies know Caruso for his hustle and heart during his Texas A&M days, and now he’s turning heads on basketball’s biggest stage.

The Thunder and Pacers are currently tied 1-1 with Game 3 tomorrow (June 11) at 7:30 CT on ABC/ESPN.

Caruso’s journey from undrafted rookie to NBA standout has been fun to follow. After graduating from Texas A&M in 2016, he fought his way onto a D League roster (now G League) with the Oklahoma City Blue, before impressing the Lakers in the 2017 Summer League. He came to OKC from the Chicago Bulls where he was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team in 2023. He also won the NBA Hustle Award unsurprisingly.

Fast forward nearly a decade, and Caruso is back in Oklahoma City, now as a veteran leader on a young Thunder team competing for a championship. He’s been reliable for guarding superstars and making clutch plays. That includes scoring 20 key points off the bench in a Game 2 Finals victory. Caruso’s impact has drawn plenty of attention.

His journey perfectly reflects what Aggies love about him. Can I say grit? I’m gonna do it. GRIT! No matter how OKC’s Finals run ends, Aggieland has plenty to cheer for as Alex Caruso continues to make his mark.
