Big 12 Week Two Winners: Statement Week Against The P4?

September 3, 2025 by Last Word On College Football

The Big 12 could have done better in terms of sending a message to the rest of the country. But it wasn’t a total flop for the conference. It also wasn’t a flop for our 2025 initial winners. If it wasn’t for Baylor getting bullied by Auburn, we would have gone a perfect 16-0. We press on because those big numbers can be tricky for the opening weekend. The Big 12 week two winners are full of P4 opponents. Wins against these teams could make a big impact for the Big 12’s playoff hopes later in the season. TCU is the only Big 12 team that is not in action for week two after playing on Labor Day. All lines are courtesy of FanDuel.

Moneyline: 15-1

Against The Spread: 6-7

Totals: 7-6

Locks: 1-0

Big 12 Week Two Winners

Once again, the Big 12 week two winners include three Big 12 opponents squaring off against FCS opponents, with no odds set. Those games are Cal Poly at Utah, NC A&T at UCF, and Weber State at Arizona. All three Big 12 teams should handle their business against overmatched FCS opponents.

Kent State At Texas Tech (-48.5)

A 60-point win got Texas Tech a bump down in the AP poll. This week, they welcome a team that should be able to duplicate week one’s effort. Joey McGuire will want to keep things rolling at a high level and leave no doubt in this one.

Moneyline: Texas Tech ATS: Texas Tech Total 58.5: Over

Baylor (+2.5) At #17 SMU

Auburn exposed Baylor’s trench play as not being ready for the big time. But Dave Aranda’s team confirmed their skill talent and quarterback play can go toe-to-toe with anyone. That experience from week one will fuel a bounce-back effort against SMU in a high-scoring affair.

Moneyline: Baylor ATS: Baylor Total 65.5: Over

Iowa At #16 Iowa State (-2.5)

Iowa State hasn’t beaten its in-state rival in consecutive seasons since 2011-12. Matt Campbell also hasn’t beat Iowa in Ames since 2011. But this Iowa State team is different. Rocco Becht has looked great through two games already and should make enough clutch throws to take home the Cy-Hawk.

Moneyline: Iowa State ATS: Iowa State Total 41.5: Over

Oklahoma State At #6 Oregon (-28.5)

This game on the Big 12 week two winners slate got very spicy with some NIL-related comments from Mike Gundy and Dan Lanning. This lends itself to build similarly to when Colorado came to Oregon and Lanning gave his famous “they play for clicks,” pre-game speech before thumping them 42-6. Expect Oregon to send a message against Oklahoma State.

Moneyline: Oregon ATS: Oregon Total 56.5: Over

Kansas (+6.5) At Missouri

The Border War gets revitalized for the first time since 2011. Lance Leipold’s squad is looking to keep momentum building after finishing 2024 strong. However, this road test against a solid Missouri team will be too much to overcome. Missouri quarterback Beau Pribula leads the Tigers to a last-minute field goal drive to win the game, but the Jayhawks cover.

Moneyline: Missouri ATS: Kansas Total 50.5: Over

Bowling Green (+21.5) At Cincinnati

This is not the prettiest game on the Big 12 week two winners’ buffets. This one should feel like gear grinding a bit in a low-scoring game. Cincinnati will never be in danger of losing this game, but never pulls away, allowing Bowling Green to cover.

Moneyline: Cincinnati ATS: Bowling Green Total 46.5: Under

Delaware At Colorado (-23.5)

Colorado couldn’t capitalize on three turnovers against Georgia Tech last week. This week’s opponent should prove to be a significant step down in terms of the physicality of the game. Colorado bounces back at home to secure a decisive victory.

Moneyline: Colorado ATS: Colorado Total 50.5: Over

West Virginia (-3.5) At Ohio

That is not a typo. West Virginia is going on the road to take on the Bobcats in Athens, Ohio. This is a MAC program that has won 10 games in each of the last three seasons. Ohio also just came close to upsetting Rutgers in New Jersey in week one, falling by a score of 34-31. Rich Rodriguez had better have his team ready for a unique road test. Expect plenty of points, but West Virginia survives.

Moneyline: West Virginia ATS: West Virginia Total 59.5: Over

Army (+17.5) At Kansas State

Chris Klieman’s defense should be worried. They have not looked great in two consecutive games, and now the triple option comes to town. Army just lost to Tarleton State at home, so the threat of them winning this trip to Manhattan is minimal. But with the Wildcat defense being more leaky than usual, expect Army to keep it within the number and a few more points scored than expected.

Moneyline: Kansas State ATS: Army Total 45.5: Over

Houston (-12.5) At Rice

This would be a prime spot for Rice to spring an upset. Except they used that card before Willie Fritz got to town. While Rice should be interesting under new head coach Scott Abell (who just beat Louisiana last week), Houston handles their in-city rival.

Moneyline: Houston ATS: Houston Total 58.5: Under

#12 Arizona State (-6.5) At Mississippi State

Mississippi State handled a tricky road test very easily last week. Meanwhile, Arizona State was a little sluggish against Northern Arizona, possibly looking ahead to this trip to SEC country. The Bulldogs will be feisty in this one. If the number was over seven, this Big 12 week two winners selection would look a little different. But even in a close one, the Sun Devils prevail by one touchdown.

Moneyline: Arizona State ATS: Arizona State Total 58.5: Over

Stanford At BYU (-18.5)

Stanford is a bad football team. Full stop. BYU, while it has a true freshman quarterback, still has a ton of veteran players on both sides of the ball. Expect Cosmo to be dancing well into the Utah night as the Cougars obliterate the Cardinal. Even with 18.5 points to cover, BYU is the lock of the Big 12 week two winners.

Moneyline: BYU ATS: BYU Total 46.5: Over
