If you want to see Bucky Ball, it’s going to cost you a little extra
There’s a lot of excitement around the Bucky McMillan era of Texas A&M basketball, and it looks like the athletic department is looking to take advantage of that excitement. 2025-26 season ticket prices were announced on Thursday, and they represent a significant price increase.
According to KBTX’s Travis Brown, the base prices for A&M men’s basketball season tickets were raised by $140 from last season, which for the least expensive season tickets, represents a 65.5 percent increase. More than 160,000 fans streamed through the doors at Reed Arena as Texas A&M men’s basketball drew an average of 10,095 fans to 16 home games. It was second-highest home game attendance average in program history and marked just the second time that the Aggies have averaged more than 10,000 fans per game.
It’s worth noting that the price increase isn’t solely about the hype around the Aggies’ new head coach. We are also entering the revenue sharing era of college athletics, where athletes will receive compensation directly from the athletic department for the first time in history. That means there’s about $20 million in new expenses for the athletic department, so it shouldn’t be surprise that they’ll be looking to increase revenue to soften that blow anywhere they can. Of course that has also come in the form of the department getting leaner across the board, with AD Trev Alberts eliminating several positions or laying off employees after just a handful of months on the job this time a year ago, and the department reporting at $22.7 million surplus in 2024.
