Bobby P is back in Fayetteville. Seats are warming in Gainesville and on The Plains. Can Vandy be turnt again? These are our SEC Week 6 question heading into the week. Let’s take a closer look before we get into the Week 6 SEC Betting lines this week.
- Can Bobby P stay on the Hog in Fayetteville?
Sam Pittman is out at Arkansas. That’s what happens when you fumble away two wins against Ole Miss and Memphis and forget to show up for the 11 am kick against the Irish. Bobby Petrino returns to the Hogs, but we cannot confirm if he will be riding his hog (we couldn’t resist). Petrino seemed to be plotting and scheming for the job since he was hired last year as the Razorbacks’ OC. He will have eight games to try to prove he deserves the job again. He will need help fixing his offense and defense. - How hot are the seats in Gainesville and The Plains?
Pittman will likely not be the last SEC coach fired in 2025. The seats are blazing hot in Gainesville, and the temperature is increasing on The Plains. Billy Napier has doubled down and will remain the offensive playcaller for the Gators. He is going to do it his way, even if it costs him his job. Hugh Freeze continues to be slow to embrace the run game. His stubbornness could leave him on the outside looking in if Auburn continues to struggle. - Can Vandy be turnt again?
Last year, Diego Pavia led David (Vandy) over Goliath (Alabama). Can he do it again? This is the spice we need into what would otherwise be an “apple picking” weekend.

Picks last week:
Have you ever looked at your picks and thought, “What in the hell was I thinking?” That was my picks last week. The Georgia pick was excusable. The Arkansas and Auburn picks proved embarrassing.
- Week 1: 2-3
- YTD: 12-13
Kentucky @ No. 12 Georgia
It’s homecoming in Athens. We might have to remind Georgia fans that, despite the Alabama loss, the sky is not falling. Kentucky has the opportunity to be a get-right game for the Dawgs. The Wildcats are floundering and swimming at the bottom of the SEC for a second year in a row. Georgia has struggled to get up for the games against Kentucky the last two years, instead choosing to play with their food. Look for Smart and the Dawgs to run all over Kentucky and get their minds back on track.
Pick: Georgia
No. 9 Texas @ Florida
We’ve already discussed how big this game looms for Napier and the Gators. Last year, the Gators were crushed in Austin. DJ Lagaway was hurt in that one, or so the narrative (read excuses) go for that one. This year, Lagaway has not lived up to the hype that was bestowed upon him in the offseason. He will need to be sharp against a stingy Longhorn defense to try to resurrect the Gators’ season. What about Arch? Arch Manning has also struggled to live up to the sky-high expectations that came with the start of the season. He showed signs two weeks ago against Sam Houston that he may be emerging from his funk. The Gators tend to play well at home, but can they score more than 13 points?
Pick: Texas
No. 16 Vanderbilt @ No. 10 Alabama
Alabama should be feeling pretty good. They went into Athens last week and did what Alabama does: beat the Dawgs. This week’s game against Vandy will be more telling. If Bama is truly “back,” they should make quick work of the Dores. It won’t be easy, though. Vandy’s offense is built around the run game. The Dores are averaging 223.4 yards per game and 6.5 yards per carry. That is the recipe to knock off Goliath again for a second week in a row. Alabama has struggled to stop the run this year. They gave up 200+ yards to both Florida State in Week 1 and Georgia last week. Will the moment be too big in Bryant-Denny Stadium?
Pick: Alabama (close)
Kent State @ No. 5 Oklahoma
John Mateer is out and fell out of this week’s Heisman poll. Don’t feel too bad (this week) though for Oklahoma. Kent State can help alleviate many teams’ woes. Look for this one to be a sleeper.
Pick: Oklahoma
Mississippi State @ No. 6 Texas A&M
The Cowbells were clangin’ last week in Starkville. Mississippi State took Tennessee to the limit last week before falling in overtime. We have been critical of Jeff Lebby and his group here, and we will be the first to acknowledge that the narrative appears to be shifting for Hail State. This week, they face a challenge as they head to the 12th Man in College Station. Texas A&M won ugly last week at home against Auburn. The key to a Cowbell upset will be stopping the potent Aggie rushing attack. Weeks like this look sleepy on paper and usually help cause some chaos. This one does it.
Pick: Clanga’ Hail State
Bonus stat: Mississippi State has spent more time as the AP #1-ranked team since 2015 than Texas A&M has since 1940. Thanks, SEC Numbers Guy!
