Week Seven Winners From the Big 12

October 12, 2023 by Last Word On College Football

The Week seven winners from the Big 12 aim to keep the locks perfect and build up season totals back into the green.

Last Word had a breakthrough with last week’s winners. With a scorching 4-1 record on the totals, the season total record finally got back into the greens. Also, the lock of the week has remained just that; unbreakable. It is clear Last Word finally has a good feel for the Big 12. *Mumbling* but still went 2-3 on the money line and against the spread. The week seven winners get started early on a Thursday night with plenty of juicy coaching storylines. As always, all lines/totals are reflected in the most common number across multiple sports books at the time of publication. ML: 2-3 ATS: 2-3

Week Seven Winners From The Big 12

Season Record ML: 43-18

Season Record ATS: 19-30

Season Record Totals: 25-24

Lock Of The Week: 3-0

West Virginia (-2.5) at Houston

It’s the Dana Bowl on a Thursday night! It is a guarantee that one fan base is going to be in their feelings with a loss. For as much as Dana Holgorsen has been chesty basically saying “You won’t fire me because of my buyout,” things look bleak in Houston. However, the worst thing a program can face from its fans is apathy.

Tickets are selling for one American dollar to get into this game. On the flip side, if Neal Brown, who seemingly is getting his tookus off the hot side, lays an egg against the former West Virginia head coach the fan base will slam him back onto that seat with authority. So which base leaves the highest level of anxiety? It will be the physical Mountaineer defense and a Houston team that will be looking ahead for its one shot at Texas next week that makes the difference.

Moneyline: West Virginia ATS: West Virginia Total 51.5: Under

Iowa State at Cincinnati (-4.5)

Is this the part in the season where Iowa State makes a small run? Matt Campbell dealt with a gambling scandal just as the team was opening Fall camp and lost multiple offensive starters. So the fact that the Cyclones find themselves in the upper half of the Big 12 standings deserves a hat tip. However, Cincinnati is coming off a bye week. The Bearcats can’t remain this bad at finishing drives. The basic law of averages states they have to start scoring more points. In front of a home crowd hungry for their first Big 12 victory, Cincinnati breaks through.

Moneyline: Cincinnati ATS: Cincinnati Total 45.5: Over

#23 Kansas at Oklahoma State (+3.5)

It is a shame that this season has been largely robbed of the Jalon Daniels experience. And yet here are the Jayhawks sitting at 5-1 at the halfway. Lance Leipold continues to coach his butt off. What is even more impressive is Leipold has made it feel like Kansas SHOULD be 5-1. The week seven winners are going to produce another lock with the total in this game. Mike Gundy appears to finally have settled on a quarterback. Oklahoma State teams are notoriously getting ignored. But then at the end of the season have nine wins. Kansas has been a different team on the road. Oklahoma State isn’t explosive on offense. So while the Cowboys will do enough for the win and cover, don’t expect a ton of points.

Moneyline: Oklahoma State ATS: Oklahoma State Total 58.5: Under

BYU (+5.5) at TCU

The Horned Frogs come into this game without their starting quarterback. But even with Chandler Morris orchestrating the offense, TCU had a hard time finishing drives. Meanwhile, BYU is quietly 4-1. With its win on the road against Arkansas in its back pocket, the home crowd in Fort Worth will not intimidate BYU. The Cougars have made it clear that they are game to compete in the Big 12 from day one. Not sure what Vegas sees here in favoring TCU in this one. So we will happily take the “underdog” Cougars in this one.

Moneyline: BYU ATS: BYU Total 52.5: Under

Kansas State (+1.5) At Texas Tech

The winner of this game has the potential to make a run for a claim to be the third-best team in the Big 12. So expect this to be a closely contested one-score game. If Texas Tech’s defense can rack up more tackles for loss and force the Wildcats to beat them through the air, it will be a fun homecoming night for the Red Raider alumni.

Moneyline: Texas Tech ATS: Kansas State Total 56.5: Over
