The latest AP poll top 25 for the 2022-23 college basketball season is out – and there is a new top dog in college hoops.

On Monday, the Associated Press released their Week 15 poll. For the first-time since mid-January, Purdue has been dethroned as the top team in college basketball.

For the first time in 20 years, the Alabama Crimson Tide are the No. 1 team in the nation. They jumped over No. 2 Houston to take the top spot after winning their 12th straight game over their SEC rivals, highlighted by a 77-69 win over arch-rival Auburn.

Here is the full top 25 ranking for Week 15 of the college basketball season:

  1. Alabama
  2. Houston
  3. Purdue
  4. UCLA

Just missing the cut were the Missouri Tigers, who had 114 points against FAU’s 117.

But Alabama have been the story of the season. They’re 22-3 on the season with two of their losses coming at the hands of ranked UConn and Gonzaga teams.

The only outlier that might make fans nervous in March is the blowout they suffered at the hands of the Oklahoma Sooners – a team that doesn’t even have a winning record right now.

As for Purdue and Houston, they’re both the prohibitive favorites to win their respective conference titles and join Alabama as No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament.

How long will Alabama hold their top spot?
