Discussing whether the Houston Texans should trade up in the upcoming NFL Draft.
One word that could be used to describe Texans General Manager Nick Caserio since the day he arrived in Houston would have to be “aggressive”.
Aggression can be seen by some as a bad thing, but in this case, aggression has been great for the Texans throughout their rebuild, and now towards the start of something special.
This philosophy is used in all aspects of the football world, whether that is signing a high-priced free agent, making a blockbuster trade for a player, along with moving up or down during the NFL Draft.
Caserio is known for being extremely active throughout the draft, and it is being reported by NFL Insider Albert Breer, that Houston has been looking to potentially trade up, and select an offensive lineman.
The Texans currently own the 25th-overall pick, and could move up if a player they value starts to slide. Although it may not be likely to see another Will Anderson Jr. type trade, it wouldn’t cost very much to move up a few spots.
The main priority for the Texans this offseason must be to protect their franchise quarterback in C.J. Stroud, who was one of the most sacked players in football last season.
Here is a look at some names that Houston is interested in:
- Grey Zabel (North Dakota State)
- Donovan Jackson (Ohio State)
- Kelvin Banks Jr. (Texas)
- Josh Connerly Jr. (Oregon)
- Charles Grant (William & Mary)
If the Texans feel like they can land one of their top targets while staying at 25, it would make sense if they decided not to trade up. But on the flip side, if they feel like that pick can come in and make an impact on the offensive line immediately, they should not hesitate to make a move, which is very possible.
