All 32 NFL quarterbacks (including C.J. Stroud) ranked by Total QBR following Christmas

December 27, 2024 by Texans Wire

C.J. Stroud would be the first to say his performance on Christmas Day was very Scrooge-like in front of the hometown crowd.

He even called it an all-time low.

“Terrible on my behalf. Probably one of my worst games of my whole career. Just came out flat,” Stroud said following a 31-2 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. “Didn’t have any energy. Didn’t lead the offense the way I should have. Always got to look at myself in the mirror and be honest with myself and not good enough today. You know, it is what it is. Can’t hang my head down, but just got to keep going.”

Numbers would back up Stroud’s findings. The second-year Houston Texans quarterback posted a Total QBR rating of 13.2 in Wednesday’s demoralizing loss in front of Beyonce and all of Netflix. For the season. Stroud’s QBR has moved to 49.1.

Stroud’s season-long rating dropped again from 51.1. His overall ranking (No. 25) among starters is down three spots since last week (No. 23).

Stroud traditional passer rating of 86.0 dropped down again to No. 25 out of 33 qualified quarterbacks.

Unlike a traditional passer rating, the Total QBR “incorporates all of a quarterback’s contributions to winning, including how he impacts the game on passes, rushes, turnovers and penalties,” according to ESPN.

The metric takes into account scenarios that a traditional passer rating overlooks and considers “a team’s level of success or failure on every play to provide the proper context and then allocates credit to the quarterback and his teammate to produce a clearer measure of quarterback efficiency.”

With that context in mind, here’s a look at how Strouds stacks up against the NFL’s other starting quarterbacks this week as the other 28 teams play heading into “Thursday Night Football.”
