All-Pro WR Signs Contract With New England Patriots

Stefon Diggs Contract

10-year veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs has signed a new contract with the New England Patriots. Diggs, a four-time Pro Bowler and former First-Team All-Pro, spent the 2024 season with the Houston Texans but has also played for the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills.

After another drama-filled offseason, the Buffalo Bills decided that Diggs wasn’t worth the headache and shipped him to the up and coming Houston Texans. After reworking his contract to make him a free agent following the 2024 season, Stefon Diggs started the year on a high note. Through eight games, the wide receiver recorded 47 receptions for 493 yards and three touchdowns on 64 targets. Unfortunately, Diggs tore his ACL, forcing him to miss the back half of the season.

Diggs originally entered the league as a fifth-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Selected by the Minnesota Vikings, the Maryland product immediately outplayed his draft capital, recording 52 receptions for 720 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie. He continued to build on that impressive debut, combining with Adam Thielen to form one of the league’s best receiver duos. His best season with the Vikings likely came in 2019 when he recorded 63 catches for 1,130 yards and six touchdowns.

Frustrated with Minnesota’s run-heavy philosophy, Stefon Diggs demanded a trade and earned a large contract with the Buffalo Bills. This proved to be a wise investment on Buffalo’s part, as the wide receiver responded with the best season of his career. Appearing in all 16 games, Diggs embraced the new environment and led the league in receptions (127) and yards (1,535) while scoring eight touchdowns. Diggs’ emergence corresponded with Josh Allen’s breakout, as the two powered the Bills to the AFC Championship Game.

The Maryland product had similar success over the next three seasons and ultimately made four Pro Bowls during his time with the Bills. Since signing his rookie contract, Stefon Diggs has recorded 857 receptions for 10,491 yards and 70 touchdowns on 1,242 targets.
