With quarterback Bryce Young expected to miss time due to an injury, the Carolina Panthers could trade for Cleveland Browns backup Shedeur Sanders this 2025 campaign. According to the breaking news, the Panthers will likely lose Young for a few weeks and it’s a huge blow to the team’s offense that was looking like possible legit contender winning three straight games, especially in their upset win over the Dallas Cowboys. However, they’re going to be without Young and the rest of the schedule doesn’t look to be in their favor. This means the Panthers should trade for an adequate signal-caller since veteran backup Andy Dalton is too old and probably isn’t the most ideal starter.
While Sanders is waiting for an opportunity to start for the Browns over rooke Dillon Gabriel, the team has been reluctant to give him a chance. Originally selected in the fifth round of the this year’s draft, the former Colorado product is more than capable to start as a solid quarterback for a team that needs an emergency. Sanders got some playing time during the preseason, but under the right circumstances in Carolina, he could be become a reliable option to lean on if Dalton doesn’t live up to the expectations. The rookie should provide a new fresh breath of air since the Browns don’t look to be too committed on Sanders, so either way, he should be on the trade block and these teams should be interested.

Other Possible Suitors
Baltimore Ravens
While there may be some animosity as it was rumored that Shedeur Sanders turned down the opportunity to backup Lamar Jackson. However, it became true that Sanders wanted to get a starting job elsewhere and it hasn’t been paying dividends for him. With that, the Ravens could use another adequate signal-caller and may have to make a deal with the Browns. It wouldn’t be the first time that Cleveland pulls off an inner division trade and Sanders could be open to sitting on the bench to learn from Jackson.
He might not last long apart of this offense, but the team lost Jackson due to an injury and veteran Cooper Rush hasn’t been able to reel in at least a win. Even though they have Tyler Huntley waiting for a decent chance, he could share the workload with Sanders.
Houston Texans
Meanwhile, it’s hard to imagine that the Houston Texans will keep CJ Stroud around as he hasn’t been as consistent since his breakout rookie year. At 2-3, the season isn’t necessarily over, but when you have teams like the Colts and Jaguars, Stroud probably won’t be able to keep up with Daniel Jones on fire and Trevor Lawrence most likely turning things around.
This could open the door for Sanders to find his role at least as a backup before he establishes himself as a potential starter for this offense.
Los Angeles Rams
However, the Los Angeles Rams could soon begin their search for their new franchise quarterback. Veteran Matthew Stafford is still playing his best football, but he is aging and could hang up the cleats at least after two more seasons. Sanders won’t be a starter anytime soon for Los Angeles, but when you have a coach like Sean McVay, he could turn into a reliable quarterback in the NFL.
