Prior to the start of the 2023 season, Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud had a conversation with Tom Brady. He recently shared details from that interaction.

Brady stressed the importance of being a good teammate. The seven-time Super Bowl champion told Stroud that he never wanted to let his teammates down over the course of his career.

Apparently, Stroud took that piece of advice to heart.

“On TV, you look at [star quarterbacks] and think, ‘Man, they’re just so busy. They can’t hang out with their teammates. They’re probably just locked in on what they got going,'” Stroud told ESPN. “And [Brady] was like, ‘I just never want to let my teammates down.’ He said those words exactly. I was like, ‘Man, that’s how I am.’

“I love kicking it with my boys. Those are my brothers. So it definitely hit home when he was talking about it.”

So far, Stroud has been outstanding for the Texans. He’s completing 59.6 percent of his pass attempts for 1,660 yards with nine touchdowns and just one interception.

The Texans will enjoy a Week 7 bye before they face the Panthers on Oct. 29.
