The Houston Texans aren’t going to let the Deshaun Watson sweepstakes affect their free agency plan. On Wednesday, the team added a veteran running back to its roster.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo announced that Houston is signing running back Dare Ogunbowale to a two-year, $3.3 million contract.
Ogunbowale, 27, has bounced around the league over the past few years. His career actually began with the Texans, but he had his most productive seasons with the Buccaneers and Jaguars.
Since entering the NFL in 2017, Ogunbowale has 299 rushing yards and three scores on 86 carries. He also has 58 catches for 454 yards and a touchdown.
Ogunbowale isn’t a flashy signing for the Texans, but he’s capable of playing on all three downs and special teams.
The Texans’ backfield certainly needs a few upgrades this offseason, even with the recent addition of Ogunbowale.
Perhaps we’ll see the Texans address this position in the upcoming NFL Draft.
