Houston Texans Free Agency: Wide Receiver Targets

Free agent wide receiver targets for the Houston Texans.

The Houston Texans are in need of wide receiver help due to Stefon Diggs hitting free agency, and Tank Dell likely missing the entire 2025 season with a brutal knee injury that was suffered against the Kansas City Chiefs.

It is hard to predict exactly what the Texans offense will be like with new offensive coordinator Nick Caley, but there are a few players available that could potentially fit the new system.

PLAYER ONE: CHRIS GODWIN

Godwin could very well re-sign with the Buccaneers before free agency officially begins on March 12th at 4 p.m, but if Godwin and the Buccaneers cannot agree to a deal, it would be wise for Houston to at least show some interest.

Godwin is a great player that was on pace to post career-high numbers across the board, before suffering a season-ending ankle injury.

The talented receiver is entering his ninth-year in the league and is due for a hefty payday, which could exceed $22M per year. The Texans are currently sitting around $7M in cap space, but could create some room with a few restructures and cuts.

Houston may opt to go a cheaper route, and draft a receiver high, but Godwin would be a great investment for C.J. Stroud, who is entering year three in the league.

PLAYER TWO: STEFON DIGGS

Diggs was with the Texans for the 2024 season, after being traded from the Buffalo Bills, and things did not go according to plan.

The former All-Pro receiver has been durable throughout his entire career, but unfortunately suffered a season-ending torn ACL against the Indianapolis Colts, meaning there could be some unfinished business in Houston.

Stroud has spoken highly of Diggs and would like to see him come back, and it has been reported that Diggs was “extremely happy” in Houston, according to NFL Insider James Palmer.

Diggs’ projected yearly salary is around $13.5M, according to Spotrac. That number is much more affordable for the Texans and would definitely be a short-term deal.

PLAYER THREE: ELIJAH MOORE

Moore was with the Cleveland Browns last season and accumulated 61 receptions for 538 yards and a touchdown, despite inconsistencies around him.

The former second-round pick is only 24 years old, and feels like his potential has not been unlocked yet. Stroud could be the guy to do it.

His projected yearly salary should be around $4M per year, and if that is the case, the Texans should absolutely be interested.

PLAYER FOUR: DYAMI BROWN

Brown was drafted by the Washington Commanders in the third-round of the 2021 NFL Draft and has been used sparingly throughout his time there.

It was not until this past season where he started to show a glimpse of what he can do. Due to the trade of former first-rounder Jahan Dotson, along with the season-ending injury to Noah Brown, Brown got his chance to see increased action and he made huge plays down the stretch for a team that was one game away from the Super Bowl.

Brown is only 25 years old and his projected salary is around $1.9M per year.

It is clear that Houston will upgrade the position this offseason but it remains to be seen where they will allocate most of their resources.
