B-b-b-b-b-b-That’s all folks!

So there you have it, the last pick for the Houston Texans will bolster the Texans offensive line. The pick is LaDarius Henderson, guard, from the National Champion Michigan Wolverines.

Here’s Lance’s breakdown of Henderson.

Overview

Offensive tackle with decent athletic traits and above-average physical traits, but his game tape simply doesn’t show enough consistency. Henderson’s size and length will check boxes, but his play against the likes of Iowa, Alabama and opponents at the Senior Bowl left a lot to be desired. He needs to improve his anchor strength in protection, but he appears to have enough lower-body drive to generate some movement in the run game. Ultimately, an inordinate amount of mental mistakes and a lack of instincts will be hard for offensive line coaches to overlook.

Strengths

Possesses a 7-foot-1 wingspan and huge, strong hands.

Slides out to greet edge rushers with good foot quickness.

Initial quickness to reach and seal 3-techniques in zone.

Gets into run-blocking fits with adequate pad level and leverage.

Adequate lower-body push when clearing out down blocks.

Weaknesses

Struggled with protection duties in College Football Playoff and Senior Bowl.

Below-average anchor to withstand a hearty bull rush.

Fails to recognize twists and games developing around him.

Movement on combo blocks and in space are segmented.

Lacking desired contact balance to sustain run blocks as pro.

Once more, here is the 2024 Houston Texans full draft class:

2(42) – Kamari Lassiter, CB, Georgia
2(59) – Blake Fisher, OT, Notre Dame
3(78) – Calen Bullock, S, USC
4(123) – Cade Stover, TE, Ohio State
6(188) – Jamal Hill, LB, Oregon
6(205) – Jawhar Jordan, RB, Louisville
7(238) – Solomon Byrd, DE, USC
7(247) – Marcus Harris, DT, Auburn
7(249) – LaDarius Henderson, G, Michigan

Don’t forget to stick around for our undrafted free agent (UDFA) tracker and see if we can’t find the next Arian Foster from all the players that didn’t quite get to be drafted.

Thanks for joining us again, folks!
