NFL Power Rankings: Top 10 Defenses

October 12, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Sunday of Week 6 in the NFL is fast approaching, and it’s time to take a look at the top 10 performing defenses so far this season.

Week 6 NFL Defense Power Rankings

1. Cleveland Browns

The Browns defense has been elite this season. They have a championship-caliber defense that is capable of shutting down even the best offenses in the league.

2. Houston Texans

The Texans defense has been one thing they can rely on this season. After recording three interceptions from Cooper Rush and beating the Ravens, they head into their bye week and will play against the Seahawks in week 7.

3. Denver Broncos

The Broncos defense showed that they are elite when they took down the Super Bowl Champions in Philly. Their next opponent is the Jets, whom they should get the win over handily, even with the game being played in London.

4. Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons have only given up eight touchdowns through their first four games. This week, the Bills are coming to town to test that defense, and it will be a tall task for them to slow down Josh Allen and company.

5. Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings are off this week, which should help them fix their problems and give them some rest. They are a well-coached, play-making defense, and the rest will do them some good.

6. Green Bay Packers

It feels like they could be the best all-around defense in football, but they have been inconsistent from week to week. Coming off a bye, they get the hapless Bengals with Joe Flacco to the rescue.

7. Detroit Lions

The Lions have been playing excellent defense since the start of week 2. After recording two sacks and three interceptions against the Bengals, they hope to carry some of that momentum against the Chiefs this week.

8. Los Angeles Chargers

This week, the Chargers will be in Miami playing the Dolphins, who showed they can still move the ball without Tyreek Hill. With Hill out, this makes things a lot easier for the Chargers, who should win this game.

9. Los Angeles Rams

The Rams lost to the 49ers last week in a game they should have won, considering all the injuries the 9ers were dealing with. This week, the Rams are playing the Ravens in Baltimore, who could have their star quarterback, Lamar Jackson, back this week.

10. Buffalo Bills

The Bills defense struggled mightily last week against the Patriots in their shocking loss. This week, they get a fresh Falcons team with Bijan Robinson to right their defensive woes, if they can.
