NFL World Reacts To Laremy Tunsil's Announcement

On Wednesday, two-time Pro-Bowl offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil made a big-time announcement regarding his infamous “Gas Mask Video.”

The Texans star will mint the video as a “1-of-1” NFT project. A portion of the proceeds will go toward The Last Prisoner Project, a non-profit that supports those who are incarcerated for marijuana-related offenses.

“For the past 6 years, I’ve been asked about this moment. The gas mask. I’ve spent 6 years trying to do rather than say – on the field and off the field. Fall 2021 I spoke with @complex for the first time about this moment and today, the day before #draftday,” Tunsil wrote on Twitter.

“I’m officially moving on and putting this moment in the past,” he added. “I’m minting a 1 of 1 NFT of the infamous gas mask video to be listed. A portion of the proceeds will benefit @lastprisonerprj which supports those incarcerated for cannabis offenses.

“I’m looking toward and excited for the future and am grateful for all of those that supported me on my draft night and those that have and will continue to support my journey!”

The NFL world took to Twitter to react to this move from Tunsil.

“Tunsil turning a negative into a HUGE positive,” one fan wrote.

“Laremy Tunsil’s career story is one of the best in the league,” another added.

Tunsil was widely considered a top selection in the 2016 NFL Draft class. But, just before the draft process began, his Twitter account was allegedly hacked and a video of the incoming rookie smoking marijuana out of a gas mask was posted for the world.

Tunsil slid down draft boards until the Dolphins selected him with the No. 13 overall pick. After three years in Miami, he and Kenny Stills were traded to Houston in an infamous exchange for two first-round picks, a second-round pick, Johnson Bademosi, and Julien Davenport.

On Thursday, the Texans are set to draft in the first round for the first time since that trade went down.
