10-year veteran offensive tackle Trent Brown signed a new contract with the Houston Texans. Brown, a former seventh-round pick, spent the 2024 season with the Cincinnati Bengals but has also played for the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders, and New England Patriots.

Trent Brown, Houston Texans, Agree to Contract
Trent Brown’s 2024 season ended before it ever truly began. Following a drama-filled end to his tenure with the New England Patriots, Brown signed a one-year deal with the Bengals in hopes of re-establishing his market value. Unfortunately, the veteran suffered a torn patellar tendon, prematurely ending his season after three games. The Bengals went 9-8 with Brown sidelined, narrowly missing the playoffs despite remarkable seasons from quarterback Joe Burrow, wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, and edge defender Trey Hendrickson.
Brown originally entered the league as a seventh-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Selected by the 49ers, Brown started off as a backup before earning the starting job in 2016. Playing right tackle for an underwhelming 49ers squad, the Florida product saw more attention after the Patriots traded for him ahead of the 2018 season. Helping to replace the departed Nate Solder and the injured Isaiah Wynn, Brown started every game of the season while helping New England win their sixth Lombardi Trophy.
Following that impressive season, the Las Vegas Raiders rewarded Brown with a massive contract. The tackle justified this investment early on, making the Pro Bowl in 2019 while starting and playing in 11 games. Unfortunately, injuries limited him to just five appearances in 2020 and the Raiders cut the veteran after the season.
Brown landed on his feet, signing a one-year deal with the Patriots to protect rookie quarterback Mac Jones. He played well in this role and earned an extension. Unfortunately, this proved to be an unwise investment, as Brown’s play dipped as he became openly frustrated with the coaching staff.
Since signing his rookie contract, Trent Brown has appeared in 103 games while making 96 starts. While on the field, the 6′-8″, 380-pound behemoth has won a Super Bowl and earned a Pro Bowl selection.
