Should the Houston Texans be interested in Seattle Seahawks Wide Receiver DK Metcalf?

The disgruntled wide receiver could find a new home on Kirby Drive.

Seattle Seahawks All-Pro wide receiver DK Metcalf has requested a trade from the franchise, and the Houston Texans are said to be interested.

NFL Insider Ian Rapoport believes the Texans will be interested, but should they actually make the move? The answer is maybe, but the compensation has to be right. The reported price that the Seahawks are looking for in exchange for their star wide receiver is a first-round pick, along with a third-round pick. If that is truly the case, Houston should pass.

Not only would the Texans need to surrender significant draft capital, but they would also need to reward Metcalf with a massive contract that could exceed $30M per year, according to The Athletic Insider Dianna Russini.

The Texans need to get more weapons for quarterback C.J. Stroud, and if Metcalf can be acquired for less than the alleged asking price, they should be all over it. If the Texans can end up trading a 2025 second-round pick, along with a 2026 mid-round pick for Metcalf, that would be a much easier pill to swallow.

Houston has a ton of young players on the roster that will be receiving record-breaking contracts within the next few years, therefore it may not make sense to add another monster contract.

On the other side, it is not everyday that a player of Metcalf’s caliber becomes available, and Houston has the opportunity to pair the talented wide receiver with Nico Collins, who is fresh off an impressive Pro-Bowl season. That wide receiver duo would instantly be one of, if not the best in the league, and it may be hard to turn that down if you are General Manager Nick Caserio.
