Former Houston Texans cornerback Aaron Glenn is returning to where his NFL career began.
Glenn, a native of Houston and former Texas A&M star defensive back, agreed in principle terms to become the 19th full-time head coach for the New York Jets history.
Glenn previously had spent the last four seasons as the Detroit Lions defensive coordinator, where he led the NFC North franchise to back-to-back postseason appearances.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Glenn agreed to terms on a five-year deal, locking him in through 2029.

The Jets long for stability and success following the firing of Robert Saleh in Week 5. New York currently features the longest active drought across America’s four major men’s sports leagues at 14 seasons.
Enter Glenn, who under Bill Parcells’ watch led the Jets to two postseason appearances while earning two Pro Bowl nods from 1994-2001.
After Glenn left New York, he was selected by the Texans through the 2002 NFL expansion draft, becoming a member of the inaugural roster. He started 16 games during the Texans’ debut, registering 75 tackles, five interceptions, 16 pass deflections and one sack.
Glenn also became the first Texans player to reach the Pro Bowl in 2002. After three seasons, he closed out his career with the Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars and New Orleans Saints.

After five seasons away from his hometown team, Glenn signed a one-day contract so he could retire as a Texan. Shortly after, he got into scouting and later coaching, working his way up the ladder to become one of the more sought-after candidates in the industry.
In three seasons with the Texans, Glenn totaled 166 tackles, 11 interceptions and 44 pass breakups over 43 starts.
