Dare Ogunbowale has been a core special teams player for the Texans the past three seasons and his time in Houston isn’t over yet.
On Wednesday morning, NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported that the Texans are re-sigining running back and core special teams contributor Dare Ogunbowale to a new one-year, $2 million deal. Ogunbowale will now play a fourth season in Houston where he’s starred on special teams while also contributing in the backfield when needed.

In 2024, Ogunbowale rushed for 112 yards on 30 carries and caught 19 passes for 198 yards and one touchdown. In three seasons so far in Houston, Ogunbowale has totaled 270 rushing yards and a touchdown on 80 carries while hauling in 41 passes for 320 yards and a lone score.
Prior to joining the Texans, Ogunbowale spent two seasons with the Jaguars (2020-2021), two with the Buccaneers (2018-2019), and one with the Commanders (2017). Originally, Ogunbowale entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin. The Texans initially signed him following that year’s draft but he was released by Houston in mid-October.
