The Texans are releasing the 32-year old Shaq Mason as they will now rely on a stable of young offensive linemen along the interior.
And the transactions just keep on coming for the Houston Texans.
Per NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the Texans are releasing veteran offensive guard Shaq Mason after two seasons with the team. The move saves Houston roughly $2 million in cap space as Mason was set to earn a base salary of $10 million in 2025. However, the Texans will take on $12.482 million in dead cap money.

With the 32-year old out the door, the Texans will look to Tytus Howard and Kenyon Greene as their potential starters at both guard spots. With Jarrett Patterson the incumbent at center, third-year man Juice Scruggs could also be in the competition for a guard spot after seeing time at all three interior positions during the 2024 season.
This is the third roster decision made this morning, joining the restructuring of linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair’s contract and the signing of defensive tackle Kurt Hinish to a new one-year deal.
