Sheldon Rankins rejoins the Texans and Demeco Ryans on a one-year deal worth up to $7 million.
Early Monday morning, ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported that the Texans are signing former Bengals defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins to a one-year, $7 million deal. Rankins spent the 2023 season as a member of the Texans before signing with Cincinnati for the 2024 campaign.

During that 2023 season, Rankins played in 15 games with 15 starts, totaling 37 tackles, six sacks, nine tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown. This past season, Rankins was limited to just seven starts in seven games. He ended the season with just 18 tackles, one sack, and one tackle for loss.
For his career, Rankins has accumulated 246 tackles, 30.5 sacks, 33 tackles for loss, five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, three pass breakups, and one interception.
Rankins now rejoins a defensive interior group that is currently headlined by Tim Settle Jr., Folorunso Fatukasi, and Mario Edwards Jr. Kurt Hinish was also signed back by the Texans last week on a one-year, $2.35 million deal.
