Texans add depth on the defensive line
The three day event is almost over. The Texans have one more selection on the books after this one. Nick Caserio has made a total of six trades where he has moved up, down, and maybe even sideways. Every draft is controversial in nature and this one might be one of the more controversial. With their first seventh round selection, the Texans selected defensive tackle Kyonte Hamilton from New Jersey Rutgers.
There wasn’t much data on his performance on his NFL.com prospect profile, but we are sure he did a hell of a job. In all seriousness, the Texans add a bigger body to a defensive tackle room that has a lot of options, but few dominant forces. Adding another potential rotational player would be a nice addition.

Defensive tackle was one of the positions that fans and pundits alike identified as a possible target for the Texans. You cannot possibly address every need with a high pick. Most seventh rounders are camp bodies and Hamilton is likely no different as Lance Zierlein had him pegged as a likely priority free agent.
Seventh round picks rarely ever make an impact. So, completely trashing this selection would be short-sighted and cruel. Teams carry as many as 90 players in camp and those bodies have to come from somewhere. Weirder things have happened. If anyone remembers Roy Lopez, he ended up being a starter after being a late round selection. Of course, those defenses weren’t very good. What do you think? Does Hamilton have a chance to make the roster?
