The Bills Didn’t Tell Josh Allen They Were Trading Stefon Diggs

Whenever the Buffalo Bills finalized the decision to trade Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans, they appeared to have done so without telling star quarterback Josh Allen.

According to Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic, Bills general manager Brandon Beane said that he has not spoken to Allen since making the trade and seemed to indicate that he didn’t tell him before either. However, Beane added that he speaks to Allen “pretty regularly” during the offseason.

“Bills GM Brandon Beane says he has not spoken with QB Josh Allen since they made the Stefon Diggs trade, but did say they talk pretty regularly throughout the offseason,” Buscaglia wrote.

NFL fans aren’t convinced. Between rumors and reports that Allen and Diggs have been having a hard time working together and Allen being the most important player on the team, they’re not sold on the idea that Allen didn’t know that a trade was going down.

“Josh gave the thumbs up months ago,” one user replied.

“It wouldn’t really matter if they talked after if they talked before the trade was made,” another pointed out.

“We talk pretty often, but not when we trade away his best weapon,” a third wrote, pointing out the absurdity of the statement.

Diggs’ arrival in 2020 immediately sparked a change in Allen, catapulting him from an average quarterback to an elite one. Diggs had over 100 receptions and over 1,000 yards in each of his four seasons in Buffalo and that kind of production isn’t easily replaced.

No matter how Brandon Beane words it, it’s hard to believe that Allen wasn’t made aware of what was happening.
