The Houston Texans’ coaching search is going into its last phase.
The team has conducted numerous interviews throughout the last few weeks and appears to be down to two finalists.
Per Josina Anderson, a third finalist that was in consideration has been told that he’s out of the running.
“Multiple sources told me -since yesterday -they’ve received word and /or have seen notification that the #Texans indicated they’re were down to at least two finalists at said time, and moreover that a 3rd finalist was informed then– they’re no longer in consideration.”

Houston has reportedly had a strong interest in former NFL quarterback Josh McCown and Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon.
Both have had two interviews with the team and it seems likely that the Texans are deciding between them. Former Dolphins head coach Brian Flores is also reported to be in the running, though with his legal case against the NFL now underway, that could scare them away.
McCown played in the NFL for 16 seasons and bounced around a lot as a backup quarterback.
He was with Cleveland for two of those seasons and started 11 games. He finished with 3,209 yards through the air, along with 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
McCown also played with the Jets from 2017-18 and started in 16 games. He finished with 3,465 yards, plus threw 19 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
As for Gannon, he just wrapped up his first year as the Eagles defensive coordinator. Before that, he was the Colts defensive backs coach from 2018-20.
