76ers looked into signing Ben Simmons?

February 16, 2025 by Hoops Hype

Ben Simmons signed with the Los Angeles Clippers following his buyout agreement with the Brooklyn Nets. Simmons also received interest from the Cleveland Cavaliers and Houston Rockets. Jake Fischer reports that the Philadelphia 76ers also had some level of interest in signing Simmons. The Sixers traded Simmons at the 2022 trade deadline for James Harden. Simmons had a prolonged holdout in hopes of a trade from the Sixers that season following a disappointing second round series against the Atlanta Hawks in the 2021 playoffs. …. “I think Philadelphia sniffed around on Ben Simmons,” said Fischer on his NBA Insider Notebook. “I really do.”

Ben Simmons opened a new chapter with the LA Clippers on Tuesday, practicing with the team for the first time after being waived by the Brooklyn Nets last weekend. The No. 1 pick in the 2016 draft is expected to make his debut either Wednesday at home against Memphis or Thursday at Utah. He hasn’t played since Feb. 1. “I feel great, ready to go,” Simmons said. “I just want to play basketball at a high level and I feel like that’s going to happen here.” -via ESPN / February 12, 2025
Ben Simmons: “I’m a competitor. I just want to compete regardless of all the bullshit that is said online that doesn’t come from me. I want to compete, and I’m here to do that…so that’s my expectation coming to the Clippers.” -via reddit / February 12, 2025
