Anthony Edwards: ‘Everybody knows how Dillon Brooks is, man. He plays dirty’

February 7, 2025 by Hoops Hype

Jon Krawczynski: Anthony Edwards: “Everybody know how Dillon Brooks is, man. He play dirty. He’s a competitor. I love the competing part, but all the little slick little dirty shit …” Edwards said Brooks hit him in the face and he fell, and Brooks said “How much crying you gonna do?” Edwards: “We can compete all day. We can talk shit all day. But when you get to doing that, it’s more than basketball at that point.”

More on this storyline

Jared Weiss: Dillon Brooks on going against Kristaps Porzingis: “I like playing against bigs. They’re slow.” -via Bluesky / January 28, 2025
Dillon Brooks to Amen Thompson: “I appreciate you getting my first win in this mf’ing building.” -via reddit / January 28, 2025
The Rockets completed a fourth-quarter comeback and beat the Celtics 114-112 at TD Garden on Monday night, giving Rockets coach Ime Udoka his first win against his former team in four games over the last two seasons. Dillon Brooks torched the Celtics with a career-high 10 3-pointers, tying the Rockets’ franchise record, and 36 points. Amen Thompson, who did not play in the Rockets’ loss to the Celtics earlier this month because he was serving a league suspension, made his presence felt with a career-high 33 points — including the game-winning basket. -via Houston Chronicle / January 27, 2025
Right now, you’re the youngest to reach 13,000 points. How does it feel to be part of that history? Anthony Edwards: It feels incredible, man, because of all the criticism I received coming into the league about my jumper. Now, I love to see what the critics have to say about it. They used to say I couldn’t shoot, and now some people think I take too many threes. I love it. -via YouTube / February 7, 2025
Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards, who earlier in the week provided one of the most memorable soundbites out of several dumbstruck NBA stars who commented on the trade, offered up another (he seems to have a knack for that) in an ESPN clip on Wednesday when he was asked about the trade once again. “I’m excited to see the first time the Lakers play Dallas, in Dallas,” a sunglasses-clad Edwards told SportsCenter. “Super excited to see that, oh my God. … If [the Timberwolves aren’t] playing I’m buying front row tickets to that bitch. For real.” -via Dallas Morning News / February 6, 2025
The Minnesota Timberwolves star said he was approached about the contest, but he’s not interested. “I’m cool,” Edwards said. “I don’t know how that’s gonna feel, being up there by myself. Yeah, that’s different. Then I can’t like dribble. Nah, I’m cool. I’m cool. That ain’t my speed, for sure.” -via Sports Illustrated / February 6, 2025
