Two things can be true:
De’Aaron Fox & Mike Brown didn’t do themselves many favors the past week.
Both also have clear reasons to be unhappy with the direction/decisions of the organization, from the Rich Paul meeting to roster construction.

I thought it notable that De’Aaron Fox didn’t seem to take any responsibility when he was asked about what happened on the Jaden Ivey four-point play. But it was also notable how hard Mike Brown laid into everyone. Quite a disconnect. youtu.be/XdGHyxz2AVU?si… – 3:42 AM

More on this storyline

Fox will be extension-eligible this offseason with hopes of earning All-NBA honors and a supermax contract starting at approximately $59.5 million in 2026-27. That seems out of reach, and his max extension would start at $51 million (which is still a massive payday)—a number he can get from any team (unlike the supermax, which could only be from Sacramento). After informing Brown, Wilcox and McNair called Fox, DeRozan and All-Star forward Domantas Sabonis. Fox and DeRozan were getting ready to head to the airport. Sabonis was home sick and missed the call. None of them were consulted on the decision. -via ESPN / December 30, 2024
Three weeks ago, after a practice, Fox said he and Brown had a heart-to-heart about where the team was and what they could both do to help the Kings out of what has now grown into a 5-13 slide. Brown told Fox that he believed Fox could become one of the best two-way players ever at his position, but he had to keep pushing himself. “I was fine with that,” Fox said. “He told me things, then he said it to the media. And obviously he still played me 40 minutes because he wanted me to do those things. He was being tough on that.” -via ESPN / December 30, 2024
