Former Rockets Player Faces Serious Assault Allegation

November 20, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Basketball

Former Houston Rockets player Patrick Beverley is facing a third-degree felony charge in Texas after being arrested on an allegation of assault involving a family member. The case gained further attention days later when the affidavit revealed that the alleged victim was his own sister.

Police took Beverley into custody at the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office in Richmond. Jail records show officers booked him on a charge of assault on a family member, impeding breath or circulation. That offense is a third-degree felony under Texas law. Beverley paid off his $40,000 bond, and police released him the same day.

At that time, authorities did not disclose the identity of the victim. However, the severity of the charge indicated that the alleged conduct involved significant physical force or restricted breathing.

According to the probable cause affidavit (via TMZ), the confrontation occurred in the early hours of November fourteenth. The document states that Beverley’s sister left the home during the night to meet her boyfriend, Aiden Hilderbrand, at a nearby park without permission. When she returned, her mother instructed her to call Hilderbrand back to the house and then contacted Beverley.

The affidavit states that upon arriving, Beverley confronted his sister, grabbed her neck with both hands, and lifted her off the ground. She reported pain and a loss of breath lasting between twenty and thirty seconds.

Investigators wrote that Beverley carried her out of the bedroom by the neck, shoved her against the walls in an open area of the house, and placed her on a sofa before punching her in the left eye with a closed fist. She further claimed he said he would be the family member to kill her.

Physical Findings and Police Response

Officers on the scene reported visible marks on her neck and noted petechiae in her eyes, which can occur when airflow is restricted. These observations in the affidavit help support the felony booking.

Hilderbrand was reportedly asked to leave the residence during the confrontation. He later contacted the police, leading to Beverley’s arrest. The sequence described in the affidavit outlines escalating tension inside the home before officers arrived.

After posting bond, Beverley made a brief statement on social media, writing that people should not believe everything they see online and offering a short message of goodwill. He did not address the accusations directly. As of now, Beverley’s legal representatives have not released any formal comment.
