Rockets go cold as Heat catch fire in second half blowout

NBA: Houston Rockets at Miami Heat
Rhona Wise-USA TODAY Sports

The tank rolls on.

Tonight’s Rockets game reminded me of the Clint Eastwood film The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. In that order.

There was a little bit of good, a decent amount of bad, and a whole lot of ugly.

The Rockets took a loss to the Miami Heat by a score of 113-91.

The good in this game came in the first half. John Wall and Christian Wood were in double figures by the end of the first quarter, Jae’Sean Tate, Kevin Porter Jr. and Armoni Brooks shined in the second quarter and the team actually took a one-point lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Rockets even stayed in the game throughout the majority of the third quarter, trailing by just four points with less than five minutes in the frame.

However, a 13-4 Miami run put the Heat ahead for good and the Rockets burnt by the flames.

The team could not catch a rhythm from the three-point line, hitting just four triples in the second half and nine overall for the game on 38 attempts.

Meanwhile, Kendrick Nunn and Duncan Robinson, the Heat’s two highest scorers, combined to make 11 threes amongst the two of them alone and it really distanced the Rockets from the Heat.

It’s hard to win basketball games when shots don’t go in, which is exactly what happened tonight.

The Rockets head back home to Houston to face the Jazz Wednesday. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. CT.
